Carolers bring holiday cheer to the area

Eau Claire (WQOW) - Chilly temps are no match for warm holiday wishes.

You may have been visited by a group of carolers in Eau Claire Tuesday night. It's all part of the hometown caroling campaign which was started in 2009.

About a dozen carolers started in Randall Park and caroled through the neighborhood. It was just one of eight locations where carolers spread holiday cheer in the Chippewa Valley.

"It's just fun," said caroler Helene Smiar. "We like to get the little kids involved. We put out notice to lakeshore elementary. We put out notice to all our neighbors and the students. We're just trying to bring the Christmas cheer."

Favorites like "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer", "Silent night", and even "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" rang out.

The carolers ended their journey outside of the Goat Coffeehouse on Water Street and enjoyed a hot beverage after spreading the season's warm wishes.
