Eau Claire (WQOW) -- The Eau Claire Memorial boys hockey team won its crosstown showdown with North, Tuesday, but the Old Abes weren't celebrating very long afterward, with another key Big Rivers Conference game on tap for Thursday night.

That's when Memorial will head to Hudson.  Last season, the Raiders swept the Old Abes en route to a BRC title, although Memorial did go on to win the WIAA state championship.

This season, the Old Abes are ranked third in the state, with Hudson in the honorable mention category.

Memorial coach Mike Schwengler says up to this point, the Abes coaching staff has been looking to develop depth on the roster.

"We're looking for some magic, some spark, some chemistry," says Schwengler, "and the [Jake] Jochimsen line is starting to come together, I think they have four goals, five goals in our last two games, and we know [Jacob] Bresser and [Charley] Graaskamp are going to get chances and hopefully they're going to put pucks in the net, [Kadin] Machusak has helped with that line, and the [Austin] Bunce line, it provides us depth and the kid line, the three freshmen, when they get out there they give us so me energy and they give us a little lift and that's what we're looking for."
