Gas prices expected to fluctuate in 2014

Posted:

Eau Claire (WQOW) - It's full speed ahead to the new year and oil analysts are waving a flag of caution. They say 2014 could bring huge price swings.

According to experts with gasbuddy.com uneven crude oil prices and uneven regional refining may lead to swings of 30 to 75-cents a gallon.

They expect prices to peak at $3.83 this spring but analysts say the average price next year should fall about 10-cents a gallon below 2013 prices.

That's especially true for the middle part of the country. Gas-buddy points to recently finished, major refinery upgrades in the Midwest because of that analysts say we could see fuel prices spend plenty of time below $3.00 a gallon in 2014.
