Puppy stolen from Eau Claire shop before Christmas

Eau Claire (WQOW) - A cuddly canine at the center of a Christmas caper: a puppy was stolen from Tropic Waters Pet Center in Eau Claire before the holiday.

It happened on Monday. The shop's owner says the puppy was with other dogs in a play pen. The area is gated and signs around the pen ask customers not to pick up the pets.  Employees noticed the puppy was missing after about an hour of play.

The owner is concerned the people who have the puppy aren't prepared to care for it.

"We obviously think there has to be someone who knows the person who's got this puppy. Now they may not know how they got it but we just need one person to recognize it as being a little bit out of place," says the owner of Tropic Waters, Jim Reiman.

The puppy, a Shih Tzu, Bichon mix, is ten weeks old and weighs around three pounds. He is mostly white with an off-center brown spot on its back.
