Bartenders prep to pull an all-nighter

Altoona (WQOW) - While making it to midnight might be a challenge for most, some people are preparing to pull an all-nighter. That's because New Year's Eve is the one night a year in Wisconsin bars do not have to close.

While partying patrons will have the option to leave at will, the bartenders serving them will be the ones up all night. Some bars may choose not to participate in the early morning festivities. Others, like Whiskey's Grill and Bar in Altoona, have entertainment going as late as four a.m.

"We actually don't close. You just have to make sure you get a lot of sleep because you yourself don't get to go out and celebrate the New Year. You work pretty hard. Only the die-hards will be here at six a.m.," Jammi Prissel of Whiskey's Grill and Bar says.

For those who can make it through the celebrations to sunrise, Whiskey's offers a breakfast buffet at six a.m. The buffet is free to all patrons who've been there all night long and free to all area bartenders, who had to serve them.
