Menomonie (WQOW) -- Both UW-Eau Claire and UW-Stout face tests in conference this week.
The Blugolds are coming off their 4th-straight loss to the Blue Devils, dropping the team to 0-4 in the conference. Eau Claire has had success out of the WIAC this season, but head coach Matt Siverling says his team needs to play better to compete in the conference.
"I think we learned a lot about ourselves. Obviously we had a little streak going playing against some other teams. But now we're back in the league and it's a different ball game once you play in the WIAC. Our guys have to learn that and understand what it takes to win," says Siverling.
UW-Eau Claire hosts UW-River Falls on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
Over in Menomonie, the win over the Blugolds snapped a three-game losing streak for the Blue Devils. Stout is currently tied for second in the WIAC, but will face their toughest test of the season on Wednesday when they host the nations top-ranked team, UW-Stevens Point. Head coach Eddie Andrist says it's important his team treats this like any other game.
"We try to prepare our kids mentally for that situation. Hopefully they listen and believe it, because I believe it," says Andrist. "Every game is a big game. We're to have guys say 'You've got the big game on Wednesday'. No, they're all big in this league."
