Bitter weather sending ducks into homes

MIDWEST (WKOW) -- We all need to remember our pets when it's this cold out, but some people are thinking of those other animals stuck outside, that aren't necessarily house pets.

Meteorologist Brian Olson is sheltering ducks from Heartland Farms Animal Sanctuary in his house right now. A woman in Ohio is also opening her doors. She's housing 8 Peking Ducks right now.

They can't fly and have been living on Terri Hopton's property for some time. When it got really cold she couldn't bear to let them freeze, so she brought them indoors.

In the afternoons, Hopton puts them in her bathtubs to swim around for an hour. She uses that time to clean the pens she made for them. Hopton even trained them with a bell that she rings.
