Eau Claire (WQOW) -- The UW-Eau Claire women's basketball team gave conference leader UW-Whitewater all they could handle on Saturday, but in the end the Warhawks walked out with a close win.
It's a story that is becoming all too familiar for head coach Tonja Englund. In ten of the Blugolds' 12 losses this season, Eau Claire has been within 10 points or less when the final buzzer sounded.
"I'm going to be honest with you, even if I have a young team, we're not going to make excuses. We're the Blugolds and this group is going to learn to win," says Englund. "There was a lot of good things here, but I just told the group, close isn't good enough for us. Again, we're coming up short and a lot of it is little things we'll improve on, but I don't think our record is indicative of how good this team is. We just need to finish the games."
The Blugolds return to action on Wednesday when they head to UW-Superior.
