Eau Claire man convicted of homicide by drunk driving

Chippewa Co. (WQOW) - The driver involved in a crash that killed his wife and another passenger was convicted Monday of homicide by drunk driving.

A Chippewa County judge found Gerald Larson guilty after he agreed to plead no contest to that charge and two others.

It was in September of 2012 that investigators said Larson, from Eau Claire, was intoxicated and ran a stop sign on Highway 124, north of Chippewa Falls. His SUV collided with a pickup truck. Larson's wife Karen, and passenger Lori Barger were killed, and seven others were hurt.

Larson will be sentenced in April. The D.A. says he will recommend two years in jail, and ten years probation.
