Eau Claire Co. (WQOW) - An Eau Claire county town takes a proactive approach to frac sand mining.

Monday night, the Lincoln Town Board brought in Rod Eslinger from the county's planning and development department.

He went through the steps a company would have to take to begin mining sand.

No official proposal has been made, but a Colorado company has expressed interest in mining in the town of Lincoln.

"I think this was an excellent opportunity for our residents to not only receive information, but also to ask the many questions they have," said Jan Charles a resident of the Town of Lincoln.

More than 60 people were at tonight's meeting.

Eau Claire Co. (WQOW) - No official proposal has been made, but there's enough buzz about frac sand in the Town of Lincoln, the topic will be discussed at a meeting Monday night.

Badger State Silica has expressed interest in mining sand in Eau Claire County. The Colorado company contacted the Lincoln Town Board in November.

Monday night, at the town's regular monthly meeting, residents will be able to discuss how they want the board to move forward if the company moves ahead with an application. The meeting is Monday night at 7 p.m. at the fire station in Fall Creek.
