WI Dairy News: Dairy farming gets social

MADISON (WKOW) -- Farmers are used to cultivating cropland, and now many are cultivating relationships via social media; closing the gap between producer and consumer.

For Carrie and Patrick Mess farming is part of their daily routine, but when Carrie started blogging on her page- The Adventures of Dairy Carrie, people started responding.

"As I go through my day I snap a photo, or I think, oh I should share this, because people don't understand it," Carrie says. "I think that has a lot to do with growing up in the city, is I'm still learning and I still find everything we do really fascinating."

Carrie, who's a city gal at heart, finds that most people she reaches want to know about dairy farming, as well as where their food comes from.

"My main goal and mission I guess in everything I do in social media is to be a transparent, honest, trustworthy source of information for people," Carrie says.
