Eau Claire (WQOW) - Bus riders hoping to head from downtown Eau Claire to Menomonie and vice versa will soon be able to take a more direct route.
Beginning Monday, Dunn County transit buses will be lining up next to Eau Claire buses at the downtown transfer center off of Main Street. In the past, Dunn County Transit would only come to the west edge of Eau Claire. Meaning riders who wanted to travel to and from Menomonie would need to catch two different buses. But next week, Dunn County buses will begin service on a new, direct route that will pick up and drop off passengers at the Eau Claire transfer center.
"By far, it means much less confusion for the passenger, especially if you haven't ridden much before with any sort of transit agency. Now you just go right down to the downtown transfer center, get on Dunn County transit bus, get right down to Menomonie," said Mike Branco, Eau Claire Transit Manager.
Eau Claire Transit had been using an extra line to help passengers connect with Dunn County's service. They say since that line is no longer needed, they'll explore options like adding a route to Carson Park, where buses do not currently go.
