Pete Zervakis joined the 27 News team as a Multimedia Journalist in January 2014.

Prior to making the move to Madison, Pete was a Multimedia Journalist/Weekend Anchor at WXOW-TV in La Crosse, Wisconsin. During his time in Southwestern Wisconsin, he was recognized by the Wisconsin State Bar Association for his wall to wall coverage of the month-long, double homicide trial of Eric Koula.

Pete also previously interned at WLS-TV, the ABC owned and operated station in Chicago, Ill., as well as at WCBS-TV in New York City and WCIA-TV in Champaign, Ill.

Pete graduated with Highest Campus-Wide Honors from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a B.S. in Broadcast Journalism. As a student, he worked as a reporter and anchor at the university's cable television station, UI-7 News.

While in Champaign, Pete also reported for both the sports and features desks at The Daily Illini, an independent, student-run newspaper at the University of Illinois. He covered the Illinois varsity baseball and football teams, and also served as the paper's first ever health & wellness columnist.

Outside of the newsroom, Pete enjoys working out. He is also a constant reader of political news and history books, particularly Greek history books, and is fascinated by Alexander the Great.

Pete can always be found cheering on his beloved Fighting Illini basketball team and, as a former soccer player, is a huge fan of English Premier League squad Chelsea FC.
