COPY-La Crosse man charged in heroin overdose death of Neillsville woman

Clark Co. (Press Release) - On Friday, January 24, 2014, the Clark County Sheriff's Office made an arrest in the death of Monica J. Cooper, of rural Neillsville.

The Clark County District Attorney's Office obtained an arrest warrant and it was executed on the suspect. The suspect, Reavon W. Taylor, (D.O.B. 5-11-86), of La Crosse, is being housed in the La Crosse County Jail on previous charges and will be transported back to Clark County at a later date.

Taylor is being charged with 1st Degree Reckless Homicide. Cooper died on December 17, 2012 and was 19 years old at the time of her death. A forensic autopsy was completed at the Dane County Medical Examiner's Office and the result of her death was due to a heroin overdose.

During the thorough investigation since Cooper's death, it was learned that Taylor was the source of the heroin.

The Clark County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the State of Wisconsin Department of Justice-Division of Criminal Investigation, Ho-Chunk Nation Police Department (Black River Falls) and the Clark County Coroner's Office in this investigation.
