Company with spotty past in Wisconsin gets another state contract

MADISON (WKOW) -- Wisconsin has entered into a $58 million contract with Accenture to oversee a complete overhaul of the state's various computer systems. Accenture was awarded the contract in December, scoring higher than one other bidder.

Accenture cost the state millions of dollars when it failed to deliver a fully functional voter registration system, eventually leading to the voter registration contract being canceled in 2007.

Deputy Department of Administration Secretary Chris Schoenherr told The Associated Press(AP) on Thursday Accenture learned from its previous mistakes and is bringing its "A team" to oversee the $250 million information technology project.

The AP reports the bid process was reviewed by an independent law firm, and it was found to be fair and impartial.
