Eau Claire (WQOW) - Big Brothers Big Sisters aims to get kids off couches and into action with a new program launching later tonight in Eau Claire.
Mentors in Motion is the latest way Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Wisconsin is celebrating National Mentoring Month. The group's CEO says the idea is to encourage recreation no matter the weather.
"It's focused on the matches being active. Getting off the couches, away from the screens, and being active and doing things out in the community that promote healthy lifestyles. Obviously there's always skiing, sledding, even going for a hike in this snow can be challenging, yet fun. Make an adventure out of it," said Craig Monson, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwestern Wisconsin.
News 18's Meteorologist Andrew McCauley recently hit the hill at Pinehurst Park to enjoy some sledding with his little brother. Big Brothers Big Sisters says their greatest need is for more big brothers to sign up. The new program will have an informational meeting at Action City Thursday beginning at 6 p.m.
