Regis students make blankets for patients at Sacred Heart Hospital

Eau Claire (WQOW) - Local students spend their day making gifts for Sacred Heart patients they'll likely never meet.

Regis High School students made 24 blankets. Twelve of the smaller blankets will be used by pediatric patients in the emergency room. There are also full-sized fleece blankets to be used by dialysis patients who may need them during their treatment.

"Especially in the winter when family might not always get to be able to make it with bad roads and bad conditions. They know that even if we don't get to see them, that there are still people out there that still care about them. It's a great feeling giving back to the community just knowing that you're making a difference any way that you can," said Christina Benning, Regis Catholic High School Junior.

Students also made get well cards to go along with the blankets. Thursday's work was part of catholic schools week, which involves doing community service.
