MADISON (WKOW) -- A saleswoman at West Towne Mall's Victoria's Secret watched as three women began stuffing three large bags with lingerie Thursday afternoon.

After confronting the women, they each grabbed a bag and ran for the exit.  The employee followed, and as she trailed them she spotted a Madison police officer inside the mall.  That officer then took over the pursuit and alerted other members of the department to the theft.

A second officer, in a squad, witnessed one of the women putting two large bags into the trunk of a rental car.  When questioned, the driver and her passenger admitted to shopping inside the mall, but denied stealing from Victoria's Secret.

The passenger stated she made purchases, however, her receipts were in the trunk.  The officer then asked to look inside the trunk.  There were actually five bags stuffed full of lingerie.  Two of the bags appeared to have come from another Victoria's Secret store, perhaps in Milwaukee.

The retail value for the stolen merchandise is just under $6,000.  The preliminary investigation appears to point at the women trying to return some of the undergarments for cash.

Arrested for felony theft were 24-year-old Anita Moore and 22-year-old Monique Hardy, both of Milwaukee.  Moore was also arrested for obstructing.  The third suspect was not located.
