Man spits on police officer and faces battery charge


MADISON (WKOW) -- Man spits in police officer's face and faces battery charge.

According to the Madison Police Department, about 1:00 a.m. on Saturday officers responded to a report of a disturbance on the 2800 block of Curry Parkway. The disturbance was investigated and 24-year-old Johnny Martinez was arrested.

While in handcuffs and while being escorted to the squad car, Martinez spit on a police officer. Some of the saliva did enter the officer's mouth.

The officer was evaluated at a local hospital and returned to duty.
