Actor Philip Seymour Hoffman found dead


NEW YORK (WKOW) -- Award-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead in his Manhattan apartment on Sunday.  He was 46 years old.

The New York Police Department confirmed to ABCNews that Hoffman was found dead, and they are investigating.  The cause of death has not been determined, but law enforcement officials say Hoffman had a syringe in his arm when he was found.

Officials say a friend and his assistant found the body and called 9-1-1.

Philip Seymour Hoffman won an Academy Award for his role in the 2005 film "Capote."
