Madison (WQOW) -- For the first time this season, the Wisconsin men's basketball team drops out of the AP Top 25.
It's a long college basketball season, and just about every team goes through ups and downs. The Badgers were up a mere three weeks ago: 16-0, ranked third in the country, and getting a lot of love from the national media. Now, the team is down, having lost five of the last six, and the bandwagon is emptying quickly.
Some signs of frustration are showing in the program. Sophomore Sam Dekker was especially candid with the media last week, saying the Badgers needed more effort because they were playing soft. Dekker didn't have a good game Saturday in Wisconsin's home loss to Ohio State, scoring just four points.
At Monday's news conference, you get the sense head coach Bo Ryan wants no more public airing of dirty laundry.
"He's got to play better?," says Ryan, "is that what Sam said ,he's got to play better? I don't know, I didn't hear anything Sam said. ask him how it worked for him. you'd have to ask him, I wouldn't know. .say hey Sam how'd that work for you?"
Wisconsin will visit Illinois, Tuesday.
