Overture lights up red for Go Red for Women

MADISON (WKOW) -- The Overture Center lit up red Monday to support the fight against heart disease in women.

It's the 10th anniversary of Go Red for Women.

The American Heart Association's campaign raises awareness about heart disease, the number one killer of all Americans.

The event also kicked off American Heart Month, a time to encourage people to live healthier lives.

"UW created a program, '28 Days 28 Ways to Better Love Your Heart', that provides daily tips for women of how to get healthier, whether it's taking on an exercise program or making nutritional choices," says UW psychologist Shilagh Mirgain.

WKOW is a proud sponsor of Go Red for Women.

You can hear more about the mission and ways that you can live a healthier life, in our extended interview this week.

It's coming up Wednesday on 27 News at 5.
