Social network giant Facebook turns 10-years-old Tuesday.

Creator Mark Zuckerberg reflected on the anniversary posting to his account, "I'm so grateful to be able to help build these tools for you and feel a deep responsibility to make the most of my time here and to serve you the best I can."

In 2004, when Facebook was developed, the Internet was a much different place. No YouTube, no Twitter and then fast-growing "MySpace" was just a year old.

Facebook would go on to dominate the social web, as Zuckerberg's idea for a social network went viral. Alongside a close group of his college buddies, Zuckerberg camped out at a Silicon Valley house in the summer of 2004 to get the small startup running.

Facebook is now a public company with 1.2 billion users.  Some tech experts predict a shaky future for the social network in the future.  Zuckerberg acknowledges Facebook will need to transform to continue its dominance.

"I've spent a lot of late nights pacing around my living room with teammates just trying to plot out what our next move cam be in order to keep pushing forward on this mission," he said.
