UPDATE: HWY 60 reopened after Columbia Co. crash

COLUMBUS (WKOW) -- All lanes of Highway 60 in Columbia County near Columbus are now open after a crash Wednesday night.

According to the Columbia County sheriff's department, the scene was clear around 11:30 p.m. The sheriff's department says two cars crashed on Highway 60 near Wendt Road just after 8:00 p.m.

Two people were significantly injured in the crash, and were taken from the scene via medflight. No word yet on the extent of their injuries.

The sheriff's department plans to release more details Thursday morning. Stay with 27 News for the latest information.

The sheriff's department says two cars crashed on Highway 60 near Wendt Road just after 8:00 p.m.

Crews are still at the scene, so there's no official report yet on what happened or how many people were hurt.

However, dispatchers reported two medical helicopters were called to the scene.

Authorities expect to have Highway 60 open again after 10 p.m.
