Easy DIY Valentine's Day poppers

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- Kids love surprises and Valentine's Day is another kid favorite, a chance to open and discover little treasures or notes.  This year instead of purchasing a store-bought Valentine try these easy homemade Valentine's Day poppers.

Dusty Rogers, a local craft and home expert with online site Hometalk, showed Wake Up Wisconsin viewers how to make them.  Reading "Bursting with joy to have you as a friend," they are easier to create than they look.  Rogers says the secret is toilet paper rolls.  Add a little tissue paper and wrapping paper to decorate and you have a beautiful DIY creation.  Here are the step by step instructions.

-Cut tissue paper into 11.5" by 11.5" square
-Wrap around toilet paper roll and secure with double stick tape
-Cut wrapping paper 4" wide by 6.5" long, secure ends with ribbon or tape
-Fill roll with fun goodies (Dusty used candy, rings and lollipops)
