Inmate punches deputy, faces new charges

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- A jail inmate made a bad situation even worse when he punched a Dane County Sheriff's deputy in the face.

Tuesday evening, 39-year-old Christopher Fox, of Madison, was being escorted from a medical check by a deputy when he became agitated when told he could not use the staff phone.  Fox punched the deputy in the face, with a closed fist, as the deputy was working to open a door to the housing unit.

The 27-year-old deputy was taken to an emergency room where he was treated and released.  Fox, originally booked Monday on a substantial battery arrest, now faces an additional charge of battery to a law enforcement officer.
