Former Packers player charged with rape in L.A.

LOS ANGELES, CA (WKOW) -- Former NFL defensive back Darren Sharper has been charged with drugging and raping two women.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office says Sharper will be arraigned Friday on two counts of rape by use of drugs, four counts of furnishing a controlled substance and one count of possession of a controlled substance.

The felony case alleges incidents took place in October 2013 and January of this year.  Prosecutors say Sharper was at a West Hollywood nightclub and invited the women to a party, but stopped at his hotel room where the crimes are to have taken place.

Sharper was arrested January 17 and released on $200,000 bail.  However, prosecutors seek to raise bail to $10-million because he faces similar investigations elsewhere.

Sharper played for the Green Bay Packers from 1997-2004.
