Warm weather has crews clearing storm drains

Eau Claire (WQOW) - Before the storm, city crews were focused on storm drains today.

Milder weather was creating a lot of puddles on the city's roads and streets, but that water had no where to go. The storm drains were covered in a winter's worth of ice and snow.

Crews were out today with a power washer and hot water clearing those drains to get the water flowing again.

"Well first off its so cars aren't splashing people," said Chad Hesselkin who was out clearing the drains. "The main reason is so that we get the water off of the roads and it doesn't freeze and get slippery."

Clearing a drain takes about five minute and depending on the size of the puddle it could take up to fifteen minutes to drain away.
