NEW INFORMATION: Eau Claire starts full residential plow operation

Posted:

Eau Claire (News Release) - The City Streets Division will begin a full residential plowing operation at 9 a.m. this morning. It will continue through the night and conclude around noon on Saturday. Ice control routes are packed and have now been salted. Ice control routes will continue to improve throughout the day on Friday with the help of some sunshine.

Because of the heavy weight of the snow, residential plowing will be slow going. Some residents will see their streets cleared Friday morning and some not until noon on Saturday.

Downtown sidewalks and city wide trails will be cleared on Saturday. The Parks Division should have cross country ski trails groomed, ice skating rinks cleared by noon on Saturday.

STORY FROM THURSDAY NIGHT: Eau Claire (News Release) - Snow started falling in the Eau Claire area, with expected accumulation of 8 to 14 inches. Crews will be patrolling and sanding/salting the 85 miles of primary arterial streets as the conditions warrant. Secondary routes will be plowed and sanded once ice control routes are completed. A full residential snow plow operation is anticipated, but the start time will be determined once the snow has stopped and the main arterials are cleared.
