Eau Claire (WQOW) -- The Blugolds kept their WIAC tourney hopes alive Wednesday night by beating UW-Platteville at Zorn Arena.
To get into the tournament, UWEC needs to win its final regular season game Saturday, plus, hope either UW-Stout or UW-Platteville loses. Eau Claire will travel to first-place UW-Whitewater. The Warhawks will be looking to finish the conference season with a 16-0 record.
"They have great guard play," says UWEC head coach Tonja Englund, "they don't match up as well with us on the inside, so it will be a really intriguing matchup. They have nine seniors, I don't have one. So it's a great opportunity for us."
"It's literally all or nothing so I think that's all we need," says UWEC sophomore guard Teenie Lichtfuss, "I think our team can do it, we just need to have the right mindset and go in there and not back down."
