36th annual Home and Garden Show opens in Eau Claire

Eau Claire (WQOW) - If you're like me and need a break from the white winter weather, you're in luck. The Home and Garden Show kicked off today in Eau Claire.

In its 36th year, the event features more than 200 booths ranging from lawn care needs to home improvement and flower shops.

Attendees can enter to win a grand prize worth more than $9,000. It includes a sprinkler system, flowers and a fire pit.

"If you're looking at doing any sort of building or remodeling, now is a great time to start planning that. You can talk with our contractor's one on one. If you're looking to do some garden or landscaping stuff you can do that as well. It's a great place to get ideas and just meet with folks," Jennifer Johnson of Chippewa Valley Home Builder's Association says.

If you go, the show is open until eight tonight at the Indoor Sports Center and runs through Sunday. A one day pass at the door will cost you $8. On Saturday, the event opens at 9 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m. On Sunday, it runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
