Sacred Heart finds ways to keep people close during inclement weather

Eau Claire (WQOW) - Winter storms tend to make us all a little more cautious: we walk slower so we don't slip and fall; we drive slower so we don't go off the road. But for some, caution can mean giving up the comforts of home.

For the workers of Sacred Heart Hospital, getting to work safely is a high priority during bad weather situations.  That is why the Eau Claire hospital lets workers spend the night either at the hospital or at a nearby hotel for free.

For some employees, their presence can be the difference between life and death.

"I think we do a really good job of being proactive. That's the name of the game: think ahead and plan ahead. This winter we've gotten a lot of practice... probably more than others," Amy Dwyer, Sacred Heart Hospital's Chief Nursing Officer says.

Last night, thirty workers took advantage of the free program.
