Tools for Schools grant to give student scientists more hands-on experience

Bloomer (WQOW) - A classroom grant will take science experiments to a new level in a local school.

On Monday, Eau Claire's Own News 18 and Royal Credit Union presented a 300 dollar Tools for Schools award to Saint Paul's Catholic School in Bloomer.  The school applied for the grant to improve hands-on learning in science.

According to teacher Ryan Lang, "It's very beneficial for them to not only get to read about it, but to feel the materials, and how everything's working, putting it together, if it doesn't work, taking it apart and figure out what makes it work, and it's beneficial for them to be able to do that on their own."

This grant and another recent award will help the school buy a vacuum pump and accessories for experiments involving pressure and heat.

We are taking nominations for next month's 300 dollar award. If you'd like to apply, click here.
