Stash the snow away from your home to avoid flood when it melts

Eau Claire (WQOW) - All the snow on your roof is a concern, but so is the question of, "Where should it go?" With 43 snowfalls in Eau Claire so far this winter, Property Pro encourages homeowners to have their roof cleared of snow.

You're also encouraged to keep the snow that you shovel or rake three to four feet from the house.  That way, you can avoid potential flooding when the snow finally melts.

Jake Fon, from Property Pro, "Best case scenario is that, all that snow off the roof, it's going to melt anyway. At this point, you want to avoid any extra weight on the roof once it does come to the ground, get it a few feet away from the house so that it's not sloping back towards the house, so you shouldn't have any problems."
