Grandmother arrested in baby's methadone overdose death

JANESVILLE (WKOW) -- Police in Janesville say a woman has been arrested in connection with the death of her granddaughter, who died of a methadone overdose.

51-year-old Tina Strommen was arrested Monday. Police say she gave the methadone to her daughter, Tallie Strommen, who then gave her 13-month-old daughter K'myah part of a tablet in an effort to help the child go to sleep.

Tallie Strommen was arrested earlier this month. According to the criminal complaint filed against Tallie, a toxicology screening showed K'myah died of a methadone overdose.

Lt. Keith Lawver says Tina Strommen was booked on a charge of first degree reckless homicide.

Lawver told 27 News the investigation is still open, but officers do not anticipate any further arrests.
