Fanny Hill dinner theater's final production on Sunday

Eau Claire (WQOW) - It's the final curtain call for an area attraction. Fanny Hill has announced it will be closing its dinner theater.

The final performance will be the Elvis show this Sunday. The owner says a lot of factors contributed to the close, like a poor economy and competition from larger theaters.

"We've received comments since the news went out: we were at Fanny Hill just three four years ago and saw a production and we'd really hate to see the theater closing. That's kind of why the theater is closing. You need a lot more frequency than once every three - four years," Fanny Hill Owner, Dennis Heyde says.

For the time being, the theater will remain as is to allow for groups from the community to use the space. There were five other shows planned for this year.  Fanny Hill says it's offering refunds for the un-used portions of season passes.

Eau Claire (News Release) - Dennis Heyde, owner of Fanny Hill, announced Wednesday that the current Elvis Show will end 35 years of producing and performing live theatre shows at Fanny Hill.

"We are heartbroken to see Don Hodgins, Theatre Director, and Lois Hodgins, Group Sales Manager for the Theatre, end their 33 year tenure with Fanny Hill," stated Heyde.

"Our showroom is simply too small to compete with the large venues available in other community theaters. Fanny Hill productions have been six to eight week runs, which are necessary due to the need to hire paid actors and staff. Unfortunately, these long runs are not drawing the number of patrons necessary to cover the expenses," stated Heyde.

Fanny Hill is and continues to be a full service restaurant. Fanny Hill, which boasts many dining awards over the years, continues to offer upscale casual dining in their restaurant. They also offer a venue for local musicians to entertain every Wednesday night during the winter in the Riverview Room and in the summer every Monday, Wednesday and Sunday night on their massive deck overlooking the Chippewa River Valley.

Fanny Hill expanded their banquet business several years ago by adding an additional dining room and expanding their Riverview Room for a higher capacity. This larger room gives Fanny Hill the space needed to cater weddings and special events, as well as to hold business meetings and large dinner events.

The current Dinner Theater will be converted to another large banquet room for up to 200 people. This room will be unique and will also provide a space to have specialty shows as the current stage will remain in place.

The restaurant is the foundation of Fanny Hill and their steak and seafood selection is as good as you can find anywhere in the Chippewa Valley. Service standards are high and the atmosphere both inside and outside make Fanny Hill a restaurant well worth the five mile drive outside the city limits of Eau Claire.

Fanny Hill is owned and operated by Dennis and Linda Heyde of Eau Claire.
