March Meltdown: Southworth Chevrolet gives away cash or car to correct guesser

Bloomer, Wis. (WQOW) - Earlier this week, Nick Grunseth filled us in on just how much water is on the ground in the form of snow right now. In Eau Claire, that number is two billion gallons.  Many of us are wondering how long it's going to take before that snow melts, but none more so than one area business.

Southworth Chevrolet in Bloomer placed a car on top of a 20 foot snow pile yesterday using an end-loader. From now until the end of March, anyone can stop in and guess when the snow will melt enough for the four tires to touch the ground.

It is free to enter but the dealership is asking for a donation. All the money raised will go to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The winner will be drawn from all the entries with the correct day.

"You can either win $3,000 cash or $5,000 off of any vehicle on the lot when you purchase one. So, it can be a $40,000 vehicle or can come in and purchase a $5,000 vehicle," Gretchen Southworth-Paape of Southworth Chevrolet says.

So, if the winner finds a $5,000 car on the lot, it's their's. Southworth says they hope to have a winner before the fourth of July but with this winter, they don't know for sure.
