Does it Work: Neck Magic Air Cushion

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- If you have a stiff neck because of stress, an as-seen-on-TV product promises to help.

The Neck Magic Air Cushion says you can say good-bye to neck stiffness and headaches. Chiropractor Dr. Lance Vanderloo says, "Yeah it may give you some temporary relief but it also may, if used in an incorrect manner, cause more damage. I'd be very cautious in trying one out."

Dr. Vanderloo says they use similar devices all the time to align spine, but they're trained professionals using medically certified devices. With this brace, he says, it's hard to tell. "You'd have to be very careful so you don't put too much pressure on it and cause some restriction of blood flow or nerve flow."

Some people who used it say you can tell it changes your posture, but it also makes it hard to breathe. Some of the comments we got: "It feels like a bubble on my neck." "My neck isn't cold." This kind of feels like when I'm with my relatives, like I'm being strangled."

So in the end, does it stabilize the neck? Yes. Does it cut off blood flow to my head? Also yes. We give it a C+.
