Chippewa Falls Fire Department unveils their new fire truck

Chippewa Falls (WQOW) - It's out with the old and in with the new as the Chippewa Falls Fire Department debuts a brand new set of wheels.

The nearly one million dollar truck can pump out 1,500 gallons of water per minute.

It replaces the department's 33-year-old snorkel truck, which was only able to lift firefighters 85 feet. Using the new truck, crews can now comfortably work 100 feet in the air.

"We need an aerial stream where you can get above the fire to attack it. Also, the truck has a lot of specialized rescue capabilities for doing specialized rescues and rescuing people out of windows in elevated buildings," Chief Tom Larson of the Chippewa Falls Fire Department says.

The department plans to host an open house when the weather warms up so everyone can check out the new truck.
