Verona boys advance to state championship for second straight year

Posted: Updated:

MADISON, WI (WKOW) -- For the second straight season, the Verona boys hockey team will have a chance to bring home their first ever state championship.

The Wildcats shutout Notre Dame Academy, 1-0, Friday night at the Alliant Energy Center in the WIAA state semi-final game.

Junior Charlie Parker scored the only goal of the night, while sophomore Alex Jones kept the Tritons out of the net with 36 saves, 19 in the third period.

Verona has never won a state title. They fell lost 6-1 to Eau Claire Memorial in last year's championship game.
