Verona captures first boys state hockey championship

MADISON (WKOW) -- The Verona boys found redemption at the Alliant Energy Center. They knocked off Onalaska 6-1 to claim the state title a year after losing in the championship game.

Brogan Baker put the Wildcats up for good with a goal in the first period. Verona led 1-0 after one period.

They erupted in the second period. Phillippe Fromberger scored two unassisted goals. Charlie Parker also deflected in a goal. The Wildcats led 4-0 heading in to the third period.

Liam Schmitt and Grant Smith added goals late. Alex Jones only allowed one goal the entire state tournament.
