Police investigate series of break ins on Madison's West side

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison police are investigating two similar burglaries and an attempted burglary on the cities west side.

Police say a man called around 8:00 p.m. Friday night to report that two people were attempting to break into his neighbors home in the 1400 block of Rae Lane. The man was able to scare the suspects off before police arrived.

When police got to the area, they found a home on the 1700 block of Lynndale Road had been entered. The homeowner was gone, and it is not known if anything was taken.

A second burglary was reported in the 6000 block of Piping Rock Road just after 10:00 p.m. Friday night, when residents returned home to find jewelry missing.

Police say in both break ins, the suspects gained entry by kicking in garage doors.

A police dog was used to track the suspects, but they have not been located.
