Traditional Irish food in time for St. Patrick's Day

WAUSAU (WAOW) - St. Patrick's Day may be on Monday, but some restaurants in central Wisconsin are celebrating all weekend long.

At the Great Dane Pub in Wausau, the kitchen is serving traditional Irish plates such as corned beef and cabbage, shepherd's pie and more.

Kitchen staff say they will serve about 350 pounds of corned beef this weekend.

"Part of it is a lot of people in the area do have Irish heritage, so when they come in they're ready to celebrate and for people who maybe don't get out as often in the year, this is an excuse for them to go out," said Danielle Fischer, a bartender at the Great Dane.

Customers can also purchase green beer.

The Dane will serve the Irish specials through Monday.
