Body Art Festival Begins Wednesday

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- Dozens of artists will gather this week for the Greater Midwest Body Art Fest in Madison.

The event runs Wednesday through Saturday.

Workshops will range from creating large Mardi Gras-type headdresses, to crafting custom teeth for a latex-embellished model.

The festival will also include what's called "body art jams," with artists painting models freestyle, as well as a modeling competition and runway show.

Michelle Soltis and Dawn Marie Svanoe started the event this year. The two are professional body painters and own Madison-based Glitter to Gore, which sells specialty makeup.

The event is expected to draw about 500 people.
