MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- Milwaukee Police are now saying that a boy that is in grave conditions after being shot Wednesday may have shot himself.

The four-year-old boy was visiting his grandparents when he and some other children found a gun in a box under a bed. Police said yesterday that they now believe the boy accidentally shot himself.

Our affiliate WISN reports that boy's grandmother was arrested for storing a loaded firearm within the reach of a child.

MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- Milwaukee Police say a 4-year-old boy is in critical condition after being shot.

The shooting happened around 5 p.m. Wednesday evening at a home on Milwaukee's north side. Officials say a group of juveniles was playing with a handgun when the boy was shot.

Police had earlier stated the child had died, but changed their statement saying the boy was in grave condition at the hospital. Authorities have not yet released the boy's name.
