Justice recuses self in John Doe case

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Ann Walsh Bradley has recused herself from any ruling on a lawsuit seeking to halt the secret John Doe investigation into possible illegal coordination between conservative groups and recent recall campaigns.

Attorneys for three unnamed petitioners asked a state appeals court to suspend the probe, but the 4th District Court of Appeals rejected the request. The attorneys have now asked the Supreme Court to review that decision.

Bradley noted in a letter Wednesday her son, John Bradley, practices law with Dean Strang, one of the attorneys seeking to stop the probe. She says her son isn't involved in the John Doe case, but she wants to avoid the appearance of a conflict of interest.
