Dept. of Revenue has warning about new tax scam

Posted: Updated:
MADISON (WKOW) -- With tax season in full swing, the IRS and Wisconsin Department of Revenue have a warning about a new tax scam.

They say scammers posing as IRS agents have been calling taxpayers demanding immediate tax payments via debit cards or wire transfers, and threaten arrest or other penalties.

Both agencies say they do not request detailed taxpayer info by phone or email.

And if you owe taxes you will be notified via mail.
