Area teen sentenced for high speed chase, hitting squad car

Trempealeau Co. (WQOW) - A teen convicted of leading area police on a chase at speeds over 100 miles an hour has been ordered to do community service.

Austin Ratkus, from Galesville, was sentenced Thursday in Trempealeau County. The judge ruled that if he does five days of community service he won't have to spend any time in jail.

It was back in December that police said Ratkus led them on a chase which lasted nearly 20 minutes. During that time, he hit a squad car twice. Police say three passengers in his truck all jumped out while it was moving. No one was hurt.
