Waterways and Parks Commission approves two projects
Eau Claire (WQOW) - Green space is getting the green light in Eau Claire.
The Waterways and Parks Commission approved a recommendation by the city to purchase the Charlson's building on Madison Street.
A DNR grant would pay for half of the $360,000 price tag. The plan is to turn it into a green space and eventually connect it to a bike path.
Also at Wednesday's meeting, a plan for a lookout deck and tube landing at the corner of Menomonie Street and Fifth Avenue moved forward. The fire chief and director of Risk Management are concerned about safety, that the Chippewa River current is too swift in that area.
Both plans will go before the city council for final approval.
