MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison police and fire were called shortly before 11:00 Tuesday night for a complaint of an explosion type sound.
The caller reported the sound shook the house. The caller advised police of a license plate number of a vehicle which had left a nearby parking lot moments after the explosion.
The apparent location of the report was found to be in Door Creek Park, off of Shady Leaf Road and Littlemore. It's not actually known if the vehicle was leaving from that exact area, as the caller wasn't aware of the actual location of the loud boom.
A 44-gallon steel City of Madison Parks Department garbage can, containing garbage, was shredded from an explosive type device placed within the container. That metal was peeled away from its sides with several pieces torn. Madison Police indicated they had a special investigator responding to process the scene and a fire investigator was also called.
